IRO 50th Anniversary
In 1999, the IRO celebrated its 50th anniversary by hosting a first-ever month long exhibition on the nine major religions of Singapore at the Singapore History Museum. The exhibition had 9 booths displaying the history, sacred scriptures, artifacts, architecture and art of the 9 constituent religions of the IRO. In addition there was a booth displaying the history of the IRO. The exhibition received the support of the National Heritage Board and the Ministry of Education and thousands of school children visited the exhibition.

His Excellency President Ong Teng Cheong hosted a reception at the Istana for the representatives of the nine constituent religions of the IRO in June 1999.

As part of its 50th anniversary celebrations, the IRO also published the Revised Edition of "Religions in Singapore" and through the National Heritage Board distributed it to the schools in Singapore.

To mark the IRO Golden Anniversary, the Singapore Post made a special issue of its 50th Anniversary Stamp on 15 Jan 1999. It consists of a First Day Cover, a Presentation Pack and postage stamps in three denominations. These beautiful stamps are ambassadors of goodwill that travel the globe and carry with them our ideals of inter-religious harmony and understanding.
